There is a serious theme (friendship/forgiveness/redemption/death), but Atkins writs in a very clever and personal way, like an oral storyteller drawing you in. I thought the town itself was a personality! yes, the signs in front of the diner made me laugh aloud! Great review for a great book! I loved this when I read it (review is here).
