i also loved this book!

i have loaned my copy to so many people it is literally falling apart. i love that friendships were built on circumstances, necessity and the simple art of letter writing.

it was a book i never wanted to end--i just want to keep reading about juliet and dawsey and their life together.

jenniffer’s last blog post..since i'm not an published author...

I absolutely loved this book...probably will end up one of my favorites for this year. I listened to it on audio as well, and was one of the few I have heard that have narrators for each character...brilliant! It was such a wonderful combination of love, friendship and hardship, I just wanted to crawl inside the story and join the cast. Great review!

One of the things I remember from college was buying a bunch of stationery and writing a letter to family and friends nearly every night. Though email makes things more convenient when you're busy, I really miss writing letters.

This was a great review, and I can't wait to read this one. I created a post for your review here on War Through the Generations and added the link to the book reviews page.

Your review is wonderful. You are so right about letter writing. I used to exchange letters regularly with several friends and family members. Now with unlimited long distance and email, I rarely write. I got a wonderful letter from a friend recently and it was such a treat.

I'm glad you've enjoyed listening to Guernsey, which has kept me company in morning commute for about a week. I read the book before the audio but the audio breathed a refreshing finish to it.

As to writing letters, I cherish the times when I would pen the letters home after I came to the US. Although "snail mail" took at least a week, the slowness escalated that sense of expectation. The only thing that comes close now would be e-mails. I maintain e-mails (no short-hands, all complete sentences, paragraphs) with a few of my closest friends.
