Since I was traveling last week, I didn’t think I’d have a very busy book week. Boy, was I wrong. I don’t want to take away from my upcoming post about Zappos.com, but no sooner had I walked in the door I was told to peruse their library and select any of the books I wanted for myself. Really? You’re telling a book addict that she can have whatever and however many books she wants? Even though the books were business and personal development related, this is a dangerous thing to say to me. Yes, Zappos.com meant what they said. Are you sure? “YES! Oh, and there’s another set of books over there.” Here is the list of books I snagged during my tour:
Wikinomics by Don Tapscott and Anthony D. Williams
The Levity Effect by Adrian Gostick and Scott Christopher
Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die by Chip Heath and Dan Heath
The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell
blink by Malcolm Gladwell
The Long Tail by Chris Anderson
Zappos.com 2008 Culture Book by Zappos.com employees – I got my copy autographed by Roz and Donavon from the Help Desk. I love you guys!
When I returned home from Las Vegas, there were books waiting to be opened. I received the following surprise ARCS from HarperCollins and Random House:
The Vagrants by Yiyun Li
The Laws of Harmony by Judith R. Hendricks
Helping Me Help Myself: One Skeptic, Ten Self-Help Gurus, and a Year on the Brink of the Comfort Zone by Beth Lisick
Now You See Him by Eli Gottlieb
Finally, when we met with Miriam Parker from Hachette, she had two goodies for us:
Laura Rider’s Masterpiece by Jane Hamilton
April & Oliver by Tess Callahan
I have some reading ahead of me and I hope that you do, too. What was in your mailbox last week?

You had a busy week and a great book week! Thanks some much for the Schulz book – I’m really looking forward to reading it.
I’m so glad that it went to such a good home. I perused it when it first came in the mail and it seemed interesting. I just couldn’t hold on to it for ages knowing someone else really wanted to read it. Besides, it saved me in shipping.
Now I’m really jealous about your lunch with Miriam — free books too! I just finished THE LAWS OF HARMONY and really liked it. I enjoyed NOW YOU SEE HIM too.

Thank you for stopping by the ‘mailbox’ this week. And here I thought Zappos was all about shoes! I LOL when you wrote about selecting books. I’m extremely jealous about the lunch date. I guess I really need to move out of Idaho. Between Dawn’s great used book store posts and your attending book conferences, signings and lunches the wilds of Idaho are getting kind of book lonely.
