Oh, I am SO HAPPY this is good! It is on it's way to me from the publisher, and I'm going to see the author in 3 weeks. SHe is on a panel at the LA Times Festival of Books (along with my favorite author, Lisa See). I hope to get my book signed and take pictures!

Wow! This does sound really good! I love France as well and would probably end up wanting to study French and hop on the next plane there. Thanks for the review!

You are a woman after my own heart! Foreign cuss words! I like 'em, English, Spanish, French or Polish! I have to restrain myself occasionally in my reviews, because sometimes I just need to say them if I feel passionate about something!

I like the seal of approval thing too. I can't rate books. Like you said, too objective based on my mood.

I know some really good cuss words in English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese (thanks to my brother-in-law), and now French. I love them! What I have found interesting is that those who don't speak English as their first language have no problem whatsoever using our most foul cuss words, but they don't necessarily like to hear you repeat them in their language. I think that is hilarious.

I'm a guy but I do love to read some novels from time to time. I'm going to search for this title on my local bookstore.
