Boneman’s Daughters Giveaway!
Miriam at Hatchette Book Group has graciously provided me with copies of Boneman’s Daughters by Ted Dekker to give away to three of my lucky readers! I am so excited! I finished this novel during the Read-a-Thon yesterday and really loved it. If you like suspense, this is a great summer read for you. Why don’t you enter?
About the contest:
This contest is going to run longer than usual because I have three copies to giveaway. It is open until 11:59 PM EST on May 4th. I’ll announce the winner on Tuesday, May 5th.
How do you enter?
You can enter by leaving a comment about the most suspenseful book you’ve ever read. Your comment will give you one entry.
For two additional comment, leave a second comment answering this question: Is there anything you wouldn’t do to save my child from mortal danger? Please explain why.
For two additional entries, tweet about the contest and make sure to include @lithousewife in the message.
For four additional entries, post about this contest with a link to Ted Dekker’s Blog Talk Radio inteview.
Here’s the big kahuna of additional entries: you will earn six additional entries for listening to Ted Dekker’s Blog Talk Radio interview tomorrow at 2pm – 4/20/09 – and correctly answering the question I have about the interview that I post on my right sidebar (I’ll make it easy to find) via email. I will post the question at 4pm EST tomorrow – meaning 4/20/09. If you answer the question within an hour of my posting it, I will add an additional four entries. So, just by listening to the interview and answering the question by 5pm EST tomorrow – 4/20/09, you can earn 10 additional entries. Could there really be a better deal than that? [If you can't listen to it live, you can earn the six entries by listening to the interview and emailing me until 11:59 on May 4].
But that is not all! I have a question in mind to ask Ted tomorrow on the show. If you let me know what you think of it by tweet or email before I post my question at 4pm, you can earn six more entries.
Phew… that’s a lot of entires… I’m worn out just from thinking of it all. LOL!
As you can see, I’m really excited about this contest and the radio show tomorrow. Enter and tell your friends about it.

Posted: Apr 20th, 2009 at 1:12 am9Reply to this comment.I’m going to try to remember to listen to that interview today, but in the meantime, I will answer these: I read alot of mystery/thriller types of books, but rarly find myself truly on the edge of my seat. I do remember having the bejesus scared out of me when I read “Pet Semetary” by Stephen King (to the point where I couldn’t sleep and didn’t want to be alone!). And I would lay down my life for my kids, so I guess that means I would do anything humanly possible to save them from harm!

I was naked in my husband’s bathrobe all day because we argued about what is really good literature and my husband bet me I would never read the jackal. I picked it up and read it in a day. I never got dressed. I just sweated and paced and ranted and felt like I’d been through a wringer at the end.

The Kool-Aid Mom
Posted: Apr 20th, 2009 at 12:19 pm11Reply to this comment. The most suspenseful book I’ve read was either Candyman or The Heart-Shaped Box. I read the former when I was in high school, so it might not be so scary now, but I read Heart-Shaped a few weeks ago. As far as an unnerving, stick-with-ya scary book, though, Bentley Little’s The Store still creeps up into my brain everytime I go to Wal-Mart.
I soooooo want to win this book!

Thanks so much to everyone for your suspense/scary novel suggestions. I haven’t read or even heard of most of those novels except Pet Semetary. I read that while babysitting and I had pretty much the same reaction as Sandy! That walk home after midnight when the parent’s got home (just across the street and down one house) was the scariest walk of my life! LOL! Koolaid Mom – if you get the willies just from seeing the cover at Wal-Mart, I must read that book!
Good luck to everyone! Keep those comments, tweets and posts coming. I can’t wait for today’s interview on Blog Talk Radio. I’ll be posting my question in the right sidebar at 4pm EST. Be sure to tweet me or send an email about my question for the author for six additional entries!

as to the Q of what I wouldn’t do to protect one of my kids from mortal danger. I don’t know, and I could sit here and say I’d do whatever it took, but until I was actually in that moment, I couldn’t know. Crises reveals to us who and what our TRUE selves are.

I don’t have children, but will a niece do? Well, it depends how you define “anything”. Would I do something morally indefensible….would I kill an innocent person for example…well, no. Because there are worse things than death, even of someone that you love. -
