Prepping for the Readathon

deweys-readathonbuttonI am really excited about participating in Dewey’s Read-a-Thon!  It’s this Saturday starting at 8am EST.  I’ve been jealous for a long time of those who did participate.  I’ve always avoided it because I couldn’t read for the entire time.  My kids are just too young.  After reading everyone’s comments on Twitter last night, I was easily convinced to sign up at least for the night hours.  If you would like to form a Read-a-Thon relay team with me (Softdrink?), let me know.  I’ve already signed up for the wee hours. LOL!  When I’m not reading, I’ll be checking in off and on to be a cheerleader to all of my hard core reaidng friends.

I’ve been thinking about which books I’m going to consider all day.  Books have been addded and subtracted so often that you’ll be thankful that I haven’t posted this earlier.  You’d be sick of all my revisions. :)  Here is my list of potential Read-a-Thon reads:

The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett
A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly
The Blue Notebook by Andre Juillard
The Lost Hours by Karen White
The Laws of Harmony by Judith R. Hendricks

I don’t believe that I will finish more than one or two, but they all seem like great choices for a fun all-nighter. Please stop back Saturday night/Sunday morning and see how many I check off along the way.  I’ll be looking forward to other people’s progress, too!

Hey.. I am still trying to decide if I should try this. Maybe I can do the wee hours too. That seems more doable and it’s through Sunday so I could do some Saturday and then Sunday too right?

Well you’ve convinced me. I was reluctant to sign up because I have plans that afternoon but it’s the perfect weekend for me to do it since my girls are at their Dad’s house this weekend. Reading your post convinced me that I can do this and not be hardcore. I will definitely read the morning and night and I’ll take an audio book to listen to on my way to my “date”. Thanks!
