Winners of My Foreign Tongue Contest

From my point of view, the contest for a copy of Vanina Marsot’s Foreign Tongue was by far the most fun I’ve ever had.  I’ve learned some new cuss words, colorful twists on cuss words I’ve already known, and fun  slang from Australia. You all had me laughing and enjoying life.  Thanks so much to each and every one of you for entering.

There will be three winners announced today: 

1) the person selected by List Randomizer to win a copy of Foreign Tongue (entirely random as promised)
2) the person I selected for my favorite foreign cuss word (entirely subjective as promised)
3) the person I selected for my favorite foreign phrase (again, entirely subjective)

Number 3:  I loved reading about how “third wheels” are described in Madrid.  “Sujetar la vela”, which translates to “to hold the candle.”  While a third wheel is clunky, to hold the candle is so lonely and poignant. Number  2: Diane G was the first to enter the contest and the one who made me laugh the loudest.  I’ve also used her word, Mingia (Italian/Sicilian) for penis (“dick” and “f**k” really!) , many times and it rolls off my tongue rather well.  This is a super secret prize that will take me a little time to create.  Can you be patient?  I’m not sure if I have your address or not, so please send me an email.
