Today much of Virginia is getting socked with what is for us our third snow storm this winter. The first storm hit about a week before Christmas and the second one hit last Saturday. Last week’s storm kept the girls out of school until yesterday. Today is a snow day for all of us since my work is closed as well. I do have a few meetings with vendors throughout the day, but I’ll be sure to sprinkle some fun throughout the day. I’m sure by Sunday I’ll be climbing the walls wanting to get out of the house, but for today I’m just going to enjoy this.
Here’s what we have on tap:
1) The girls both have their 100 day school project to do.
2) Allison needs to decorate her Valentine’s box for school.
3) Junie B. Jones!
4) Playing in the snow followed by hot chocolate!
5) Shoveling – a great way to get some exercise.
6) Half Broke Horses by Jeannette Walls. I’m about 70 pages in and enjoying it. It’s a novelization of her grandmother’s life told in little episodes. Later today I’m hoping we can stoke up the gas logs. Reading by a fire is relaxing, don’t you think?

Tech is closed today – it’s the first time since Vance has been there.
Our snow just started about a half hour ago. It is coming down in big flakes and really blowing out there! We have a winter storm warning until sometime tomorrow morning I think.
I’m not planning on going out today but husband has to work a little late this evening and I’m really hoping that the roads won’t be too bad when he gets to come home.
My plans are playing with a little girl who is just learning to walk and catching up on some TV and reading when she takes a nap. I’d love some hot chocolate but we don’t have any. Hmm, wonder if I have everything to make the homemade version from cocoa? Now I’ll have to go check! lol
Unfortunately, it’s not a snow day for me (although it probably should be, or at least a short day, considering the amount of snow we’re expected to get). But it is Friday, so I’m all set to curl up with “Her Fearful Symmetry” and a movie later tonight!
Sounds like you’ve got a wonderful day planned! I could go for some of that hot chocolate right now. We’re getting a bit of that Virginia snow, too – ours just started coming down. So I’m going to settle in and try to finish the book I’m reading right now – Quattrocento by James McKean – and hope the power stays on so I don’t end up reading by candlelight!
So what are your school districts plans for making up all of those days the kids have missed? Ours has scheduled school on days the kids were supposed to have off in February. Spring break is at risk if we miss more. Even the kids are hoping for no more snow days!
I can’t believe how much snow you guys have gotten! We’ve only had one, maybe two big dumps of snow in Chicago!
I’m in Northern VA and man is everyone freaking out! I went and got gas and groceries this morning and am glad to finally be home. The Federal Government closed four hours early today and all the school systems were either closed or are closing early. This area doesn’t handle three inches well, so you can imagine what this stuff does to everyone. I’m planning on doing some baking, eating, reading, sleeping, shoveling, Superbowl watching and relaxing this weekend. Be safe!
OMG, you guys have to do the 100 day project too? After both kids went through this, equating to six straight years of doing the project, I was ready to do something drastic to rid ourselves of the 100th day. Ugh.
I saw you were getting pummelled. That is how many times now this season? You get snow, and we will be getting the wet stuff later this afternoon.
I remember reading Junie B. Jones with my daughter and those were fun books! I love those snow days! Light some candles, pour a glass of wine, open a good book…that’s all I need for a snow day (ok, maybe some fresh baked cookies too!).
We’re getting lots of snow today too. Its been crazy…good thing I work from home on Fridays. Ugh I would have hated to take metro and bus in this mess.
Charlee had a great time earlier today though when we went out.
Half Broke Horses is a book I want to read too. I had a pretty full day and now am doing a little blog hopping before bed.
No snow in Boston but I splurged on tickets to Duke at BC and am taking my father to the game. Go Blue Devils!
Set off for the gym earlier with Lindsey Davis’ Rebels and Traitors but decided there wasn’t time before the game for a real workout. Bad me.

This is weird. My home is NE PA has no snow but you guys south of us are getting pounded! Well, we’ll have our turn. Love the little snowy squirrel.
honestly, i’m getting tired of the snow and the shoveling! maybe i’d like it better if it would snow on during the WEEK instead of the weekends.
i made a big crockpot of chili today and did some shoveling, reading, laundry, cleaning, and blogging. tomorrow i’m relaxing.
