Armchair BEA Day 3 ~ Let’s Meet Jen from Book and a Latte!

I thought I had missed out on the interviews, but luckily I had not. In the end, what I really didn’t understand was the concept of round robin interviews. So, I created questions from someone who was never going to answer them. LOL! All’s well that end’s well.

I’m happy today to be highlighting what must be one of the newest of new book blogs around. Jen from Book and a Latte graciously answered the questions from this book blogging old timer. Please take a minute and learn more about her:

Literate Housewife: You are like a book blogging newborn. How did you decide to get started? Were there any book blogs that inspired you?

Jen: Hahaa. Yeah, I am a bit of a new born. I had been following a few book blogs for a while which were my inspiration – The Story Siren, Page Turners Blog, and YA Booklover Blog (from it’s “birth”) – and it just seemed like so much FUN! Let’s see you get to read a bunch of books, and then you get to discuss and/or gush about them with other fans… why not join in the fun? Sign me up! LOL. In all seriousness, I did contemplate starting my own for a while and even polled people about it. The response from the book blogging community was a resounding “Go for it!”. My personal friends (which aren’t book bloggers) were kind of indifferent. Since I’m not busy with work right now, I decided to take the plunge. I’m so happy I did!

LH: What is your most vivid memory of reading as a child?
Jen: I remember reading the Velveteen Rabbit and getting really, really upset. My mom took the book away for a while because it made me cry.

LH: Name one book you wish you could read again for the first time.

Jen: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows! I anticipated that book for so long… and WOW. At one point I had to put the book down and prepare for an upcoming scene. No joke! Gah, those stones! I’d love to have that experience again.

LH: What is your favorite non-reading hobby or pastime?

Jen: Recently – playing piano! My husband and I just bought a piano last month, after years of wanting and planning for one, and we love it. I don’t think I’ve EVER played this much before… not even as a kid when I was taking lessons (which I hated).

LH: What excites you most about book blogging? What is your greatest concern?

Jen: The most exciting part of book blogging so far has been meeting new friends! I’ve met some fantastic book bloggers that I could see being friends with in the “real world”. Since I’m new to blogging, these are new relationships but I hope our blogs keep striving and we keep in touch! Who knows maybe we’ll meet in person some day! Maybe a future BEA perhaps?

My greatest concern about book blogging is if I can keep up! I’m not working full time right now, so I have the time to dedicate to A Book and a Latte. I have to admit, I never understood how much time and work went into a book blog until I started one! All that time I had for reading before? Hahahaaa… let’s just say my reading time has been cut in half. I can’t imagine working full time, being a mother (I’m not yet), AND running a book blog! Kudos to all the women out there that do it!!

LH: What is the most important thing we need to know about you, Jen?

Jen: This is a tough one, and I can’t seem to single out one particular thing… so in a nutshell… I’m a fun-loving story lover (in shapes of books, TV shows, and movies) and a self-admitted tree-hugger. I’m fiercely loyal, a hugger not a fighter (except for being a NerdFighter, google it if you have no idea what I’m talking about), and I try not to take myself too seriously.

Thanks Jennifer for interviewing me – these were fun questions to answer. Armchair BEA has been a great experience, I look forward to reading your interview answers too!

Thank you, Jen! It was nice meeting you and I wish you all the success in the world with Book and a Latte!
