Michael, Bill, Peter and Mike,
I can’t thank you enough for all that you’ve meant to me. Your music is inspiring, memorizing and fun. I am blessed to have come of age with R.E.M. You helped me through my teen years, my uncle’s suicide, you helped introduce me to my future husband and you gave my heart so much joy.
Enjoy whatever comes next. You deserve it.
Jennifer
My favorite R.E.M. song is “Find the River.” I expect my children to find a way to ensure this song is displayed as I’m being buried – no matter what the priest has to say about it. I changed their diapers. They owe me this!
And here’s the video to “What’s the Frequency, Kenneth?” just because it’s my favorite. I never loved Michael Stipe as much as I did in this video.

I know how you feel. My memories of the 90s and my 20s will forever be connected to REM, especially the endless sing-alongs to “Losing My Religion” on MTV (when it was still music television…)
I know. They were such good times. Automatic for the People will always be special to me as will Monster. I saw them twice on that tour. I’m glad for all the good times they enhanced.
Ha!!! I love REM!!!!!
I have Sirius Radio in my car and a few of the stations play a lot of REM, Lovin it!
Oh, I love that Sirius is playing a lot of R.E.M! If only I could listen to something other than the Disney Channel, I would have known that for myself.
Here, here! I think Nightswimming is my favourite but I also love What’s the Frequency, Kenneth? and one of their newest, Oh my Heart, is lovely. Nice to see another REM fan out there in the book blogging world
