Hooray! March 2nd is Seuss Day!

I have a good friend named Mark
He came up with this idea on a lark
To commemorate our beloved Dr. Seuss,
A man who’s set imaginations loose.

March 2nd is his 108th birthday
Wouldn’t you like to come and play?
All you need is a rhyme or two or three
We’ll all be as happy as we can be.

We’ll make Suess Day 2012 memorable
Each one who participates venerable
A good rhyme is a magnificent feat
When we see one we will retweet.

Simply use the hashtag #SeussDay
There really is no easier way.
Let’s join our voices, all for one
For this man who made life so much fun!

I really am excited to celebrate Dr. Suess’ birthday on Friday. I’m so glad that Mark (@mvandervoord) invited me on board to help spread the word about #SeussDay. He is a talented and creative guy. He even drew the graphic used in this post.

Here are the details I see them:

  • #SeussDay is Friday, March 2nd.
  • Tweet as many Dr.  Seuss-like rhymes as you’d like using the hashtag #SeussDay.
  • You do not have to be a master rhymer to participate. You’ve read this post. I wasn’t selected for my innate talent. LOL!
  • If you’d like to help us get the word out, feel free to use the graphic. The more the merrier.
  • I will be working on Friday, but I’ll have a #SeussDay search saved in Twitter to follow the tweets. I’ll be retweeting my favorites throughout the day.
  • Most importantly, enjoy the day.

I’ll have to do some brainstorming for this. Rhyming does not come easily to me. I had no idea it was Dr. Seuss’s birthday was on the same day as the release of The Lorax. Makes sense though!

I’ll have to see how things go time-wise, but it sounds like fun. It’s also my husband’s birthday, so we usually have a full day.

I totally started the morning by trying to read the Spanish version of Green Eggs and Ham aloud to my coworkers. I failed miserably, but it was a hoot anyway :) Have a fun Seuss day!
