With the birth of my new niece, Charlotte, and my kids getting ready to go back to school, I’ve been thinking about childhood this week. This reminded me of a picture I found before vacation. I went through my computer files and found the photos that my husband put together for our wedding reception. This is one of my favorite pictures of myself as a child. I know too young yet to truly love reading, but there is so much joy in my face. How could it not point to my future?
Today, this picture is a reminder to me of what’s important about reading. It’s the delight and the discovery. No matter how old I become, books will always have the capacity to bring that into my life, making a reader’s life rich and fulfilling from start to finish. I’ll be forever thankful that this is the life for me.

I did allot of reading in bed and under the bed (I liked the privacy) so not many pictures.
But I am sooo catching my daughter’s literary evolution on film.
Love the whimsy and cute picture! I’m not sure if any pictures of me with books are around. A new mission? Maybe.
I do have ones of my children, including trying to eat books. They did get over that as one has a library degree and one works part time in a library. I think I was successful!

I would have know that was you no matter where I saw it! You haven’t changed a bit. I was a second child so there aren’t many pictures of me period.

There’s a pic where I’m in bed with my mom and holding a book looking very seriously at it…and it’s upside down, lol. I was pretty little.
I have a very similar picture of myself at this age as well! Even with the sepia tone. Must have been the in thing to do. I like you message here. I’ve been very busy and stressed out and thinking that I need to stop blogging for awhile because I can’t keep up. I need to take a deep breathe and remember why I do this.
What a cute picture! I can’t believe (with a librarian mother and an author father) there are no pictures of me with books but the family photos are all on slides so I can’t check.
