The Armchair Audies Are Coming!

armchairaudiesBelieve it or not, the 2013 Audie Award nominations are just days away from being announced. Those of us who participated in the Armchair Audies last year are excited to get started. While the concept is the same, there are a few improvements we’ve made.

Last year the Armchair Audies developed organically over Twitter. The nominees had already been announced well before we started. Since we really didn’t know that it would become a yearly event when we got started, the Armchair Audies had no more official a home than a page on my blog. Going forward, we knew this wasn’t sustainable. For our second year, we’ve created a blog at armchairaudies.com. It is a work in progress, but it’s a cozy home for the event. Special thanks to Cassandra for the excellent start. She is an Armchair Audies rock star!

Another thing improvement we knew we wanted to make for future Armchair Audies challenges was being prepared to begin as soon as the nominations go live. Last year the nominations were out for a while before things came together. Depending upon the amount of time people have to listen, it’s important to allow for as much time as possible. This year, we’ve created a sign up form and posted it in advance of the February 16 nomination announcement. If you’d like to participate in this audiobook challenge, we’re ready to welcome you. Sign up, select your category, and get ready for the 16th.

I’m excited to see which audiobooks are nominated this year. Do you have any predictions?

Hi – I signed up to do the romance category for the Armchair Audies – but not seeing my name/blog (Dee’s Book Blog) on the list – and I haven’t received any emails from you about it – did I do something wrong?
