Read A Hundred Summers With Me!

5.31.13_AHundredSummersI am so excited about A Hundred Summers by Beatriz Williams. When it was cold, damp, and dreary this spring, thoughts of this book made me smile and I was happy to co-host a giveaway of the book with Putnam Books. I even included a bookmark. Karen, the lucky winner (I promise to get it in the mail soon – I suck at the post office and I’m sorry!), agreed to read-a-long with me in July. I thought it would be fun to expand the read-a-long to anyone else who might like to join us. Here are the details:

I decided to break the book down into thirds and hold three discussions on Twitter using the #AHundredSummers hashtag. Since I work during the day, I’d like to hold the discussions during the weekend or in the evening. I am open for discussion, though. Here is what I have in mind.

Chapters 1 – 8: Discussion July 6th at 2pm EST
Chapters 9 – 15: Discussion July 9th at 9pm EST
Chapter 16 – Epilogue: Discussion July 11th at 9pm EST

Would you like to join us? You could get a summer-themed bookmark made by me, too. The first 15 people who fill out the form at the bottom of the page and participate in the discussion will get their very own bookmark from me (check out the now closed giveaway post for an idea of what it will look like). I will do my best to send one to every person who signs up and participates, but I am promising the first 15 will get one. Once you’ve signed up, go and get yourself a copy of A Hundred Summers! It officially debuted yesterday, so you can pick up a copy of the book from your local public library, a local indie bookstoreBarnes and NobleAmazon, or straight from Putnam Books. I am looking forward to the discussion.

Isn’t the quote button featured in this post lovely? Putnam Books created one for seven of us to create a fun blog hop for Beatriz Williams (I’m hoping they will also join me for the read-a-long in July). Check out there blogs for more quotes.

Weekends and evenings are a bit tougher for me to participate in discussions but I can give it a try. Thanks so much for putting this together. I’m really looking forward to this book!

I’m debating if I read it now and then re-reading or just holding off. 🙂 I’ll still be doing the read along though.

Hi Jennifer, I can’t wait to read the novel with you. I actually hosted a month long read of Overseas in March at my B&N chat room. And am now hosting them on my blog too.
I loved A Hundred Summers and am looking forward to this.

              • […] I love seeing what other bloggers and people are reading and especially love to talk about those books. It’s probably the main reason why I started a book blog to be honest! One of the books I have been dying to read — one that I even pre-ordered, which I never do! — is A Hundred Summers by Beatriz Williams. Well as with most books (don’t tell my husband!), it has arrived and is now sitting in my HUGE TBR pile. Do I have buyer’s remorse? Maybe a little…. Until now! The other day I was on one of my favorite blogs Literate Housewife and noticed that Jennifer and some other bloggers are reading A Hundred Summers next month. So I’ve signed up to read with them and hope you will too? For more information on the read-along, including the reading schedule and how to sign up, visit Literate Housewife. […]
