A Listener’s Choice JIAM Giveaway

During the Audie Awards last Thursday, Team Armchair Audies announced the winner of the first Listener’s Choice Award. While the Audies are mainly focused on the publishing companies as they nominate titles they would like to see win in each of the categories, the Listener’s Choice Award was focused on the narrator and the story. Listeners made the nominations with their votes. I was happy to announce the winner: R. C. Bray for his narration of The Martian!

I was tickled to see this audiobook win because of the book’s history. It was first published as an audiobook in March of 2013. The success of the audiobook  led to the author’s book deal. The Martian was then published in print 11 months later. Combining the right narrator (Look Mom, no celebrities needed!) with the right story created magic in Andy Weir’s life and in the lives of those who read his book in any format. What more power statement about audiobooks needs to be made?

In celebration of June is Audiobook Month, I am giving away a copy of The Martian via Audible.com. So long as you have an account and The Martian is available where you live, you are welcome to enter the giveaway. On June 16th I’ll use Random.org to select the lucky winner. Good luck!
