From the Heart ~ Carrington MacDuffie, Donna Postel, and Sean Runnette

from-the-heart-logoDecember… the time to give thanks for those things that have sustained us through the past year. For narrators, a huge part of that is YOU, the listening community! As we wind down 2016, we want to give back to you, our listeners, who help make our job so rewarding, and who travel with us on each audiobook journey. SO! Over 60 narrators have partnered to bring you FROM THE HEART – recordings of poetry, essays, stories, excerpts, songs, etc. – throughout the month of December. Each day, beginning this Thursday, 12/1, look for 2-3 new (and free!) audio postings. You’ll hear things from voices you’re familiar with as well as some that are new to your ears, all of whom are so very grateful for your listening love this last year! Hope you’ll join in the fun!

Today I’m pleased to host works by two audiobook narrators (click on the narrator’s name to jump to his/her performance): Carrington MacDuffie, Donna Postel, and Sean Runnette. Enjoy!

“On Desolation Sound” written and narrated by Carrington MacDuffie

About the Selection

“On Desolation Sound” is a lyrical love poem from Carrington’s collection “On the Dreaming Earth.”

About the Narrator

Carrington MacDuffie is a poet, recording artist, and award-winning voice actor. The poem included in “From the Heart” is from her collection of poetry “On the Dreaming Earth”. She has two records out, and has narrated over 200 audiobooks. She particularly enjoys bringing musicality to her narration, and integrating spoken word into her music.

“First Liners” by Etienne Blue narrated by Donna Postel

About the Selection

The “First Liners” is a short short (short!) story from a collection I found while attending the Hear Now Festival in Kansas City a couple of years ago, and it delighted my inner word nerd. May it do the same for you.

About the Narrator

Donna Postel has been a performer most of her life, on stage and in the studio, but when she recorded her first audiobook in late 2011 she knew she had found her home. That first title has blossomed into a career filled with great stories across multiple genres, from mystery and thrillers to biography, romance. contemporary fiction, business, self development and history.

Sean Runnette narrates three Stories by Anna Cunningham

About the Selection

On the cusp of this New Year, Anna Cunningham’s “A Funeral for the Fishes,” “Dog Steaks,” and “Migration,” are presented here as a triptych – each story catching that exquisite, breathless moment when life changes.

About the Narrator

Sean Runnette has narrated over 300 audiobooks, earning two Audie Award nominations, two SOVA nominations and ten Earphones Awards along the way. He has also directed and produced more than 200 audiobooks, including several Audie Award winners. He has toured the US and internationally with The American Repertory Theater and Mabou Mines, as well as appearing in Two if by Sea, Copland, Sex and the City, Law and Order and 3rd Watch. He lives, unapologetically, in New Jersey.
