From the Heart ~ Renée Chambliss, Suzanne Elise Freeman, and Christa Lewis

from-the-heart-logoDecember… the time to give thanks for those things that have sustained us through the past year. For narrators, a huge part of that is YOU, the listening community! As we wind down 2016, we want to give back to you, our listeners, who help make our job so rewarding, and who travel with us on each audiobook journey. SO! Over 60 narrators have partnered to bring you FROM THE HEART – recordings of poetry, essays, stories, excerpts, songs, etc. – throughout the month of December. Each day, beginning this Thursday, 12/1, look for 2-3 new (and free!) audio postings. You’ll hear things from voices you’re familiar with as well as some that are new to your ears, all of whom are so very grateful for your listening love this last year! Hope you’ll join in the fun!

Today I’m pleased to host works by three audiobook narrators (click on the narrator’s name to jump to his/her performance): Renée Chambliss, Suzanne Elise Freeman, and Christa Lewis. Enjoy!

About the Narrator

Renée Chambliss is a writer and audiobook narrator who lives in northern California. She was thrilled to record Jen Mann’s memoir, People I Want to Punch in the Throat back in 2014, even though it was so hard to narrate coherently while trying not to burst out laughing. Find her at REChambliss.com

“The Story of an Hour” by Kate Chopin narrated by Suzanne Elise Freeman

About the Selection

“The Story of an Hour” is Kate Chopin’s short story about the thoughts of a woman after she is told that her husband has died in an accident. The story first appeared in Vogue in 1894 and is today one of Chopin’s most popular works.

About the Narrator

Suzanne spent her childhood watching her father on stage, and causing mischief in the booth while he was on-air for the local radio station. She inherited her love of storytelling from him (even playing his daughter in On Golden Pond), and her passion for reading from her mother. Suzanne now works as a professional actor in projects ranging from television and movies to Shakespeare and Oscar Wilde. Born and raised in Minnesota, Suzanne now makes her home in Los Angeles.

“The Snow Dragon” by Marti Dumas narrated by Christa Lewis

About the Selection

The Snow Dragon is a magical Christmas fairy tale of a young girl’s quest to recreate her Christmas in a new home. Plus there’s a Dragon!

About the Narrator

Christa Lewis has narrated over 60 audiobooks in the past three years, has been featured in AudioFile Magazine and earned multiple Earphones Awards for her narrations that have become Audible bestsellers in YA and Literary Fiction. Christa is a classically trained actress and graduate of Boston University’s actor training program. She got her start as the voice of international television station DW-TV, and has been a regular on hundreds of cartoons, museum guides, documentaries and commercials.
